With Military Precision

Saturday was a truly awesome wedding. Despite horrendous weather conditions my Bride and Bridegroom enjoyed a truly memorable day with about 200 friends and family. I won’t go into the details but the Bride is a serving officer in the forces and the reception was held on a military site. The attention to detail was fantastic, and I could talk for hours about all the clever touches and beautiful moments that were created.

April 2011 was the hottest April on record in the UK – unfortunately April 2012 has proved to be the wettest, but full credit to our couple who had made sure that the weather wasn’t going to spoil their day. I cannot speak highly enough of the banqueting team at the venue, their expertise really shone through. Over 150 people were seated for a sumptuous wedding breakfast feast in the dinning room which was lit by candlelight creating a truly unique atmosphere.

Outside there were barrels of real ale provided and a hog roast for the evening. There were also candy tables and a cheese buffet, as well as a very special cocktail hour as the evening guests arrived. The Bride and Bridegroom took to the dance floor at 20:30 for their first dance and from that moment right through to somewhen after 01:00 the dancing never stopped – what a night!

I provided music throughout the day throughout the many rooms that were used as well as outside in the marquee. Music had been preselected for different sections of the day and I lost count of the compliments I accepted on the Bride and Bridegroom’s behalf for their choices.

The day was a huge success because of the attention to detail. I often talk to my couples about their planning and how they need to “risk assess” everything, this wedding proves just what can be achieved. Because the Bride and Bridegroom weren’t living locally (the Bride has been stationed abroad even since I took their original enquiry last year) I was only able to meet them once in the planning stages. I set up on the Friday so I could get to spend some more time with them and be aware of everything I need to know. On the day I arrived at 11:30am to make sure everything was ready for their arrival two hours later, and I finally dropped my pass off at the gate just after 02:30am on Sunday morning ~ maybe not the hours many people think a DJ works. At one point in the evening a guest who had been standing just to one side of my booth came over and said “wow, it’s really great to see someone who loves their job” … I rest my case 😉
