Tuesday 21st February ~ Creating Your WOW Wedding

Save the date ~ Tuesday 21st February

It’s less than two weeks to my next ‘Creating Your WOW Wedding’ evening when I run through the typical wedding day timeline to explain how to incorporate the principles in the ‘Your WOW Wedding’ booklet into your big day. The evening is being held at Ampfield Golf Club (SO51 9BQ), the doors will open at 7pm for a 7:30 start. Holding these events was a major factor in my receiving of the “Contribution to the Wedding Industry” award recent, these events are open to all couples whether they want me to DJ their wedding or not.

Watch this short video for more …

I’ll share tips on how your wedding can easily become a ‘WOW Wedding’
Things like …
* How to set the tone for your wedding day before you even enter the ceremony
* Sharing your Love Story
* How to make sure the dance floor is packed

What have you got to lose? It’s a no-brainer! Tickets are just £10 per couple (including any guests you want to bring) and all that £10 will go to the Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity, even if you claim a refund using my full money back guarantee!

Today is THE DAY

The countdown is done, the wait is over, today is THE DAY!

today-is-the-day

It’s finally time for my “Creating Your WOW Wedding” evening. I’ll be explaining how to put my WOW Wedding ideas into your wedding timeline with plenty of great examples.

The event is at Ampfield Golf Club, Winchester Road, Ampfield SO51 9BQ CLICK HERE which is between Romsey and Hursley on the way to Winchester. The doors open from 7pm and we’ll be starting about 7:30pm. The evening is in two halves of about 45 minutes with a break in the middle, so we should be done just after 9:30pm.

wow_014The entrance fee is £10 per couple with all of that going to the Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity CLICK HERE. PLUS, the evening comes with a full money-back guarantee – if you stay to the end and feel the evening wasn’t good value for money, I’ll refund you from my own pocket – so the Hospice Charity still gets your £10. If you wish to bring other guests – maybe your parents or a friend there is no extra fee. Please bring cash if possible – thanks.

Here’s what Hannah had to say about a previous WOW event …

“Paul invited us to his ‘WOW’ wedding event at Ampfield Golf course, which was amazing! We took our parents a long too and we were all blown away. I think what really struck us was Paul was so passionate about how people felt, having that great feeling, not just us as the bride and groom, but family and friends, which was so important to us.”

I can confirm there will be lots of my colleagues from the Hampshire Wedding Group CLICK HERE in attendance too, so make sure you take the opportunity to quiz them as well.

You can still come along even if you haven’t already registered – if you get a chance to let me know you’re coming it would be a great help (email paul@thepartydj.co.uk or text 07973 617153).

So, today is THE DAY, don’t miss out – be there or … er … be somewhere else.

Grand Finale ~ WOW Countdown … 1

Our final tip, for now, is about creating your Grand Finale!

1 grand finale

Finally … a staged “Last Dance / Grand Exit” is a great way to end your WOW Wedding. If you want the end of the party to be as memorable as the first dance, then with a bit of planning we can arrange for you to be in a big circle of guests, or for you to exit via an archway of guests.

Also you may like to say a final “thank you” on the microphone?

Whatever you want is best – just make sure you actually think about it and plan how the most important party you will ever give ends.

A great DJ will help you plan a Grand Finale and make sure it all happens!

Tomorrow I’m going to run through all the tips I’ve posted in the countdown to my “Creating Your WOW Wedding” event on Tuesday evening.

I can confirm I’ll be joined by several friends from the Hampshire Wedding Group who will be on-hand to answer any questions you have about other aspects of wedding planning. The doors open at 7pm for a 7:30pm start, the evening is in two halves with a break for you to mingle and we should be finished between 9:30pm and 10pm – so it’s not going to be a late night. The bar at Ampfield is very reasonable priced and I even have goodie bags for the first 20 couples and we may have a free raffle (I’m just putting the last few details together.

Baked with Love ~ WOW Countdown … 4

Today’s tip is called “Baked with Love”

baked-with-love-4

You probably know by now that the first “W” in WOW stands for Weave yourselves into the day and this is a great way to do just that…

Cook or bake something for your guests to eat at the reception or to take away as favours, perhaps homemade cookies or sweets and give them your recipe. Giving something Baked with Love is such a lovely this idea.

Today I’ll start to really push on with getting bums on seats at my WOW event next Tuesday at Ampfield Golf Club. This really is a great opportunity to understand how your wedding day will go and how you can make the most of every moment. Please believe me when I say it is NOT a sales event to make you book me, it’s a chance for me to help you regardless of whether you book me or not.

CONFESSION TIME … yesterday I discovered I’d put 2015 not 2016 on the artwork I produced. What a plonker! It does show however that even when you take care and get people to check things for you mistakes happen, which leads me to give you two ore tips today …

* don’t just leave things to chance ~ have a Plan A and at least a Plan B and double check everything.

* something will probably go wrong … as the posters say “Stay calm and carry on” ~ don’t let anything ruin your day.

Finally for today, here’s a video I put together yesterday – there’s a blog just before this explaining why I made it, just scroll down.

Photographs ~ WOW Countdown … 6

Photographs ~ they say “a picture is worth a thousand words”, so displaying photo’s is a great way of telling your story and engaging with your guests.

photographs-6

The first “W” in the “WOW” system is for “Weave” yourselves into the day – what better way than including your childhood photographs, your parents’ and grandparents’ wedding photos, shots from your hen and stag events, pictures of your pets ~ in fact anything you want! You can also add snaps from the day as you go along so that evening guests can get a real flavour of the whole day. You can display them in frames or on a screen or projected on a spare wall, is a great way to entertain your guests and help you weave YOU into the day.

If you are having a “destination wedding” abroad and having a party when you come back a photomontage of your trip and ceremony is an absolute essential!

If you haven’t already read “Your WOW Wedding” email me and I’ll forward a link to you ~ paul@thepartydj.co.uk

We are now one week away from the “creating Your WOW Wedding” event at Ampfield Golf Club when I’ll be running through a wedding day timeline and explaining how you can use use “WOW” to make yours the best wedding day ever! Tickets are £10 per couple with all proceeds going to The Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity ~ CLICK HERE for more information. Reserve your places now ~ email me today ~ paul@thepartydj.co.uk

Wedding Quiz ~ WOW Countdown … 7

Today’s tip in the Countdown to my “Creating Your WOW Wedding” event is the Wedding Quiz.

wedding-quiz-7

This is a really good ice-breaker and will help your guests connect with each other and make new friends. All you need is a trivia quiz sheet about you for your guests to complete at each table during the Wedding Breakfast. This should get everyone on each table talking to each other. Have a prize for the table that gets the best score. I did say “all you need is a trivia quiz sheet”, but of course you’ll also need pens or pencils and someone responsible for marking – all things I provide to my couples 😉

wedding-quiz

If you do decide to have a Wedding Quiz, try and make the questions all about the two of you – and not things people can find easily on your FaceBook page – you’d be amazed how many people try and cheat!
Here are a few ideas for questions to get you started …
What’s your favourite take-away?
Where was the proposal?
How many times did it take you to pass your driving tests?
It’s good to get some really fun questions in and break them up with some romantic ones.

quiz-answers

Scroll back through this blog for loads more great ideas and please consider coming to the “Creating Your WOW Wedding” evening at Ampfield – for more information and to reserve your places please email paul@thepartydj.co.uk TODAY.

How’s It Going To Sound? ~ WOW Countdown … 8

How’s It Going To Sound ~ now there’s a thought!

hows-it-going-to-sound-8

Many DJ’s have a star-line around the “right tune at the right time” idea, well there’s way more to it than that. The real focus for me is how is it going to sound – will everybody be able to hear it at the right level – not too loud or not loud enough – and will the right moment in the tune be playing at the right time. This video explains what I’m talking about (I hope) …

So, how’s it going to sound at your wedding? It should be like a moment from a film where you are the stars ~ seamless, beautiful, a true WOW moment that sets the tone for everything that follows. If you haven’t read the two pervious posts scroll down and read them now.

This is the latest post in my countdown to the WOW wedding evening I’m presenting at Ampfield Golf Club on Tuesday 15th November. The evening starts at 7:30 and I’ll be running through a typical wedding timeline sharing ways I feel you can really make the day special. Tickets are £10 per couple with every penny of that going to The Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity. The event comes will a full money-back guarantee – if you say to the end and don’t feel the evening was great value for money I will refund the £10 from my own pocket – your £10 will still go the charity. For more information and to reserve your places please email paul@thepartydj.co.uk

PLEASE NOTE ~ this is NOT a sales event to promote me. It’s about helping couples create something special regardless of whether they book me.

There are still seven more tips to come ~ please make sure you let anyone know who might be interested ~ Thanks x

Ushers ~ WOW Countdown … 10

It’s the final countdown (cue Europe’s 80’s single), we’ve got to 10 and I’m looking at first impressions and the role of the ushers.

wow-10

This time I’ve got a video I made back in March last year called “First Impressions”. It’s one of the topics that I’m really passionate about – too many weddings start “half-cocked! This is really easy stuff but is so often neglected, a beautiful room has been prepared and yet the ushers don’t know what they are doing and there is no music creating the atmosphere – just silence and awkward conversations.

My tip for ushers … and this is brilliant, even though I say it myself…
1) Find out what the seating plan is – are the brides family sitting on the left and the bridegrooms on the right, or is everybody being asked to sit wherever they want.
2) Who are the seats at the front reserved for?
3) Once you know that simply stand at the entrance to the room and smile
4) As each group of guests arrive hold out your hand to shake theirs and say “Hello, welcome to (insert names) wedding, I’m (insert your name)” … they will shake your hand and say who they are ~ for example “I’m XXXXX” and they will probably add their relationship to the bride or bridegroom, so you’ll know where to direct them.
5) If you have time, and especially if they are older guests (Grandparents etc), escort them to a seat.
6) If they have small children think about seating them where they can easily escape if the child becomes restless and make sure any pushchairs don’t block walkways etc.
7) It’s also good to know where the toilets are for any guests who need to freshen up.

People love to feel welcomed, if your ushers can get this bit right your guests will love them and feel great right from the start.

I cover more on ushers and bridesmaids in my “Creating Your WOW Wedding” event on Tuesday 15th November at Ampfield Golf Club – you’d be a fool to miss it! Reserve your places now, email me paul@thepartydj.co.uk

Read the small print ~ WOW Countdown … 11

Hello, it’s the daily countdown to my “creating Your WOW Wedding” evening at Ampfield Golf Club and today I want you to make sure you read the small print!

Read the small print

Here’s a couple of great tips from my friend and fellow Hampshire Wedding Group member Jane from Winslowe House

Read the small print

READ THE SMALL PRINT!  Always check the ‘special offer’…if it sounds too good to be true – it probably is!  You may find a wedding breakfast (for 30 guests) and evening reception (up to 100 guests) at a fabulous price but is it SO fabulous if the wedding breakfast consists of a one-course meal, an evening buffet for all guests but NO drinks package included….by the time you add additional course/s and drinks (arrival drinks, toast & wines), that so-called offer is the same price as many other venues!

FLEXIBILITY: You may book your venue 12 – 18 months ahead of your special day; check with the venue that they have a flexible approach…so that if in the lead-time you may change your mind on various aspects of your day, you can!  Some brides change their accent colour; some couples want to change their evening menu; change your welcome drink from Bucks Fizz to Pimms; increase/decrease guest numbers; and so on.

Find out before you commit your hard-earned deposit if there is a cut-off date when everything has to be ‘set in stone’ or if you wish to make any changes in the allotted time, there isn’t a surcharge for changing any item/s.

Jane is so right with both of these tips – you’d be amazed by some of the stories we hear from couples who have booked a venue and fall out with it before their wedding because of things hidden in the small print or lack their of flexibility! You have been warned 😉

Winslowe House is a fabulous venue that you may have not heard of before. It’s located between West End and Fair Oak on Quob Lane, close to the junction with Allington Lane.

Bring back the Receiving Line ~ Countdown … 12

Todays topic is “Bring back the Receiving Line” – many couples have no idea what a receiving line is! Do you?

the receiving line-12

The Receiving Line is one of the things that is often no longer considered but I believe it’s a great way to get everyone engaged with you at your wedding. This is a classic example of dumbing down. It takes time and needs to be organised correctly, so venues often gloss-over it and say it’s unnecessary, boring or a waste of time – how can spending time, even just a few seconds, with the people you’ve invited to share your wedding day with be a waste of time!

It’s just a simple opportunity to meet and greet your friends and family on their way into the wedding breakfast.

Please watch this video to see my thoughts …

I would suggest you talk about this before you make decision. Wwhat could be nicer than a quick hello, a hug, a “thanks for coming” and a kiss with all of your guests!

If you have any questions about the Receiving Line or anything to do wedding etiquette, or things you’d like me to blog about please let me know. Just email paul@thepartydj.co.uk

I’ll be talking about this and lots lots more at my “Creating Your WOW Wedding” on Tuesday 15th November at Ampfield Golf Club – here are the details …
