DJ at Three Choirs Vineyard Wedding Fair

This Sunday it’s back to wedding fairs with the PMN event at Three Choirs Vineyard. As yet I haven’t had the opportunity to DJ at Three Choirs Vineyard but I’m hearing good things about the venue and the service they offer, so hopefully I’ll play there soon. Wedding fairs are a great way to get ideas and collect information, I’d encourage every couple to visit a few fairs and take the time to talk to all the exhibitors – these people are often wedding experts who have lots of valuable experience they are happy to share.

Sunday’s event is between 11am and 3pm with over 45 exhibitors including several of my colleagues from The Hampshire Wedding Group including Colin and Kate from Entity Photographic , Sue from Suephisticated Cakes, John from Charles Gale and The Ring Studio. There is plenty of free parking onsite and it’s £2 per adult entry fee with children going free.

Please note … I did say in a previous post that I was exhibiting at The Summer Wedding Festival on 30th July – this event has now been CANCELLED. I hope to publish a list of the Autumn wedding fairs I’ll be at exhibiting at in the next few weeks – so keep your eyes peeled. It’s between 11am & 3pm and Ampfield Golf Club is on Winchester Road a few miles out from the centre of Romsey, the post code is SO51 9BQ. Parking and Entry are free but please consider donating a small amount to the Countess Mountbatten Hospice, so they can continue their fine local work.

As you may know, I’m one of the founding members of The Hampshire Wedding Group, which was set up about 5 years ago. Wedding Fair Preparations

Happy Monday ~ it a new week and I’m very busy with Wedding Fair preparations.

If you are planning to a wedding and looking for fresh ideas and inspiration, wedding fairs are a great pace to start. What I like most about wedding fairs from a couples point of view is that you’ll get to meet real wedding experts.

However, be aware that …
1) not every supplier is an expert (even if they are exhibiting at a wedding fair).
2) find out if the person you are speaking to is actually the person who will be working for you
3) you don’t have to book everything you see

On Sunday 9th October 2016 there are two excellent events you should consider attending. The first is the Hampshire Wedding Group Wedding Fayre at Ampfield Golf & Country Club near Romsey, Hampshire, SO51 9BQ. between 11am and 3pm. I am one of the founding members of this group and meet with the suppliers once a month – these are good people I can personally vouch for and recommend. Ce, my wife, will be representing The Party DJ at this event so make sure you say hello to her and all the exhibitors who really do know a thing or two about weddings.

At this event The Hampshire Wedding Group will be giving away over £3,000 worth of vouchers to spend with our expert suppliers. You can pre-register for the prize draw CLICK HERE.

This is another event we always try and attend – it’s a fabulous venue and this event attracts many of the areas top suppliers. Party DJ News

Hello, I’m Paul and this is The Party DJ News.

As you can probably guess from my lack of posts recently it’s been a busy old year. Even though I’ve reduced the number of bookings I take, my days are taken up with meetings, creating special playlists, writing Love Stories and preparing all kinds of “great stuff” for my couples. I’ve now just got two more weddings this year and most of the prep is done so I wanted to get back on here and get my blogging head working.

Once again it’s been a wonderful year fluff great weddings with couples coming up with even more unique touches. At a recent wedding I think the Bridegroom created a moment in his speech when over half of us had tears in our eyes – it was truly beautiful. I’ve also seen plenty of wonderful home-crafted touches which you’ll be able to see when I start posting “Real Wedding” blogs to carry on adding to the booklet you can see here.

September always seems to be the month I visit venues a little bit further afield, last year it was swing and Sidmouth. This year is no exception, this coming weekend I’ll be overseas … well on the Isle of Wight actually. As usual, when the wedding is a bit further away, we’ll be travelling the day before so we can reassure the couple we’re there and ready for their big day.

The Hampshire Wedding Festival, is billed as “a large-scale outdoor wedding fair with live music, food and lots of fun and games for all ages”.

Organisers, South Coast Events, say …

you should think of it like the biggest wedding fair you’ll go to in Hampshire, add live music, chill out areas, food vans, shopping and loads of wedding ideas – THAT’s a wedding festival.

This is a must for anyone planning their wedding and the one event where the men will have something to do. As well as the usual wedding exhibition, there will be live music from bands and singers you can hire for your big day and an area where you can purchase snacks or lunch and a bar (woohoo!)

South Coast Events have already set up and established the Dorset Wedding Festival which has been running for a few years now, so I’m expecting The Hampshire Wedding Festival to be a great day.

Laurel Designs

Recently I was delighted to attend the opening of the new Laurel Designs studio.

Laurel Designs was founded by, and is run by, my friend Carol Slark from her home in Lower Swanwick.
Carol and her team specialise in producing handmade bespoke stationery and many other wedding accessories. Carol created the beautiful folders The Party Hosts used for me and has provided the stationery and decor for many of my couples in recent years.

Carol and Laurel Designs have one won many awards in recent years and I am delighted that they joined us in the Hampshire Wedding Group in 2015.

Now many Brides take on the creation of their own stationery and decorations, and there is nothing wrong with that, but it’s not as easy as it looks and can be very time consuming. Laurel Designs are experts and understand that many couples are looking for something unique and handmade bespoke stationery is a great place to start.

Great wedding stationery sets the scene for what is to come by giving a hint of your colour scheme and the theme for your wedding. Carol offers a personal service, she can plan to your budget so you can select everything you want from the creation of your stationery, to the dressing of the venue.

The Laurel Designs Studio offer centrepieces, decor and many other products, which are available for hire or purchase.

Working alongside Carol is Laura, another friend I’ve known for quite a while – I first mentioned her here back in 2012 after we met at a wedding fair. Laura owns her own company LC Sweet Occasions providing a wonderful range of guarantee high-quality sweets. Laura works alongside Carol creating their beautiful handcrafted stationery.

Sues joined the team a few months back and does all the admin and is Carol’s PA answering emails and keeping records up to date.

New to the Laurel Team is Kirsty. I first met Kirsty when she was the wedding coordinator at Elmers Court.. Kirsty has organised a huge range of Weddings, Private and Corporate Events throughout her career and has a great eye for detail and is now utilising the experience she has amassed in her new role as a Wedding P.A.

This new service from Laurel can give advice on basics like finding your perfect wedding venue and sourcing high quality suppliers. They can also help planning your timeline, provide templates for Guest Lists and Table Plans, set up and co-ordination on the day along with advice and support on budgeting.

Dates For Your Diary

Here are some dates for your diary ~ it’s a busy start to 2016 for The Party DJ

On the 10th January we were at the Rhinefield House Wedding Fayre and spoke to lots of couples at various stages on their wedding planning. I had a conversation with one couple who had been told about a year ago by another DJ (on the phone) that they didn’t need to think about booking their entertainment until about six months before their big day … WRONG! They are now struggling to find anyone who is available for their wedding this July. Wedding events are a great time to talk to different suppliers and find the people you like or just get different ideas.

The second wedding fayre of the year for me is at the gorgeous DeVere New Place at Shirrel Heath which is out towards Wickham.

The first Sunday in February sees the Hampshire Wedding Group showcase at Ampfield. This is an event I’m very involved in as one of the founding members of the HWG. The Group consists of hand picked wedding suppliers based in Hampshire It has been compiled by recommendation accepting only the very best, highly experienced professionals. I’m delighted to exhibit at this fabulous, new for 2016, wedding venue in Port Solent. The Port House was taken over by Vanilla Catering last year and after an extensive refurbishments is now taking bookings for weddings and parties.

Tuesday 16th February Creating Your WOW Wedding @ Ampfield Golf & Country Club
My first WOW event of 2016 – this is a must for anyone planning a wedding. It is not a sales event and is open to any couples regardless if whether they need a DJ or not. It focuses on how you can make the most of your wedding day. The evening is FREE but spaces must be reserved in advance.
