Let’s talk about Sax

Let’s talk about Sax baby, let’s talk about you and me. I wanna Sax you up.  Dirty Saxy money. Do you think I’m Saxy. I want you Sax … Ok, I’ll stop there. This post is actually about the saxophone and a great local sax player.

Over recent years a sax player jamming over club tunes has become very fashionable with players like Laura at Cafe Mambo in Ibiza. I’ve seen a few great examples this year including the brilliant Felicity at Sunset Lounge in Corralejo (she’s moved to Norway now 🙁 ) and the guy I want to tell you about – Slav.

A few months back now I was booked for a 50th birthday party for a lovely guy and his brilliant friends and family.  They had also booked a guy called Slav to play sax for an hour or so at the party. In advance I was given a list of songs they wanted Slav to play along with and I was able to cobble together a quick mix and send it to Slav. On the night of the party he turned up in plenty of time and we set up playing through my sound system – it worked a treat and Slav was excellent.

Not only did he play along to the mix of six or so songs I created that lasted about twenty minutes, he then proceeded to play to requests from the party goers with me doing my best to mix them together. We even had a fantastic singer from the family take a couple of tracks and another guest ripping it up with some tight MC’ing!
