Starting The New Year With A January Wedding

January is also considered a long month after the excitement of the festive season things can fall a bit flat, so starting The New Year With A January Wedding is a great way of putting some joy into everyones lives. It’s worth remembering that many people disappear off the radar over the holiday season so having all your plans in place well in advance will reduce stress in the final days before the wedding.

Temperature ~ January daytime temperatures will generally reach highs of around 9°C that’s about 48°F. At night the average minimum temperature drops down to around 4°C, that’s 38°F. In recent times the highest recorded temperature in January has been 15°C that’s 59°F, with the lowest recorded temperature -7°C, about 19°F.

Rainfall ~ The average monthly amount of precipitation has been recorded at around 73 mm, that’s 3 inches. Throughout the month you can expect to see rain or drizzle falling on 20 days of the month, with snow falling on 1 days.

Sunshine ~ expect the sun to shine for an average of 4 hours per day.

So weather-wise it’s going to be fairly bleak but there may well be opportunities to get some pictures outside. However, keep in mind it may be bright but bitter and guests will want to keep their coats on and you don’t want anyone to get chilled in the traditional sense of the word!

It’s between 11am & 3pm and Ampfield Golf Club is on Winchester Road a few miles out from the centre of Romsey, the post code is SO51 9BQ. Parking and Entry are free but please consider donating a small amount to the Countess Mountbatten Hospice, so they can continue their fine local work.

Wedding Quiz ~ WOW Countdown … 7

Today’s tip in the Countdown to my “Creating Your WOW Wedding” event is the Wedding Quiz.

This is a really good ice-breaker and will help your guests connect with each other and make new friends. All you need is a trivia quiz sheet about you for your guests to complete at each table during the Wedding Breakfast. This should get everyone on each table talking to each other. Have a prize for the table that gets the best score. I did say “all you need is a trivia quiz sheet”, but of course you’ll also need pens or pencils and someone responsible for marking – all things I provide to my couples 😉

If you do decide to have a Wedding Quiz, try and make the questions all about the two of you – and not things people can find easily on your FaceBook page – you’d be amazed how many people try and cheat!
Here are a few ideas for questions to get you started …
What’s your favourite take-away?
Where was the proposal?
How many times did it take you to pass your driving tests?
It’s good to get some really fun questions in and break them up with some romantic ones.

Wedding Fair Preparations

Happy Monday ~ it a new week and I’m very busy with Wedding Fair preparations.

If you are planning to a wedding and looking for fresh ideas and inspiration, wedding fairs are a great pace to start. What I like most about wedding fairs from a couples point of view is that you’ll get to meet real wedding experts.

However, be aware that …
1) not every supplier is an expert (even if they are exhibiting at a wedding fair).
2) find out if the person you are speaking to is actually the person who will be working for you
3) you don’t have to book everything you see

On Sunday 9th October 2016 there are two excellent events you should consider attending. The first is the Hampshire Wedding Group Wedding Fayre at Ampfield Golf & Country Club near Romsey, Hampshire, SO51 9BQ. between 11am and 3pm. I am one of the founding members of this group and meet with the suppliers once a month – these are good people I can personally vouch for and recommend. Ce, my wife, will be representing The Party DJ at this event so make sure you say hello to her and all the exhibitors who really do know a thing or two about weddings.

This is another event we always try and attend – it’s a fabulous venue and this event attracts many of the areas top suppliers. Party DJ News

Hello, I’m Paul and this is The Party DJ News.

As you can probably guess from my lack of posts recently it’s been a busy old year. Even though I’ve reduced the number of bookings I take, my days are taken up with meetings, creating special playlists, writing Love Stories and preparing all kinds of “great stuff” for my couples. I’ve now just got two more weddings this year and most of the prep is done so I wanted to get back on here and get my blogging head working.

Once again it’s been a wonderful year fluff great weddings with couples coming up with even more unique touches. At a recent wedding I think the Bridegroom created a moment in his speech when over half of us had tears in our eyes – it was truly beautiful. I’ve also seen plenty of wonderful home-crafted touches which you’ll be able to see when I start posting “Real Wedding” blogs to carry on adding to the booklet you can see here.

September always seems to be the month I visit venues a little bit further afield, last year it was swing and Sidmouth. This year is no exception, this coming weekend I’ll be overseas … well on the Isle of Wight actually. As usual, when the wedding is a bit further away, we’ll be travelling the day before so we can reassure the couple we’re there and ready for their big day.

Here are some dates for your diary ~ it’s a busy start to 2016 for The Party DJ

On the 10th January we were at the Rhinefield House Wedding Fayre and spoke to lots of couples at various stages on their wedding planning. I had a conversation with one couple who had been told about a year ago by another DJ (on the phone) that they didn’t need to think about booking their entertainment until about six months before their big day … WRONG! They are now struggling to find anyone who is available for their wedding this July. Wedding events are a great time to talk to different suppliers and find the people you like or just get different ideas.

The second wedding fayre of the year for me is at the gorgeous DeVere New Place at Shirrel Heath which is out towards Wickham.

The first Sunday in February sees the Hampshire Wedding Group showcase at Ampfield. This is an event I’m very involved in as one of the founding members of the HWG. The Group consists of hand picked wedding suppliers based in Hampshire It has been compiled by recommendation accepting only the very best, highly experienced professionals. We offer engaged couples a range of services to cater for every aspect of their wedding day. Check out our members HERE

Sunday 14th February Wedding Showcase @ The Port House
I’m delighted to exhibit at this fabulous, new for 2016, wedding venue in Port Solent. The Port House was taken over by Vanilla Catering last year and after an extensive refurbishments is now taking bookings for weddings and parties.

Tuesday 16th February Creating Your WOW Wedding @ Ampfield Golf & Country Club
My first WOW event of 2016 – this is a must for anyone planning a wedding. It is not a sales event and is open to any couples regardless if whether they need a DJ or not. It focuses on how you can make the most of your wedding day. The evening is FREE but spaces must be reserved in advance.

Hi, so it’s 7th January 2016 ~ FLIP how did that happen?

Happy New Year!

I can’t believe it’s over a month since I last posted here. So much has happened since then and I’ve got so much planned for this year with more weddings with even more WOW!

If you follow me on FaceBook (please do!) you will have seen a bit more from me but it’s just been a very busy December and New Year with weddings and Christmas Party bookings.

Here are some dates for your diary, I’m at a number of wedding fairs over the next few weeks including …

I am also hosting my next FREE “Creating Your WOW Wedding” event on Tuesday 16th February (7pm for a 7:30 start) at Ampfield Golf Club and then one of my Bridegroom’s Workshop evenings there the following month on 8th March. These events are FREE and are open to anyone who’s getting married and wants to attend even if they have booked another DJ already. Places must be reserved in advance.
