So You Want To Build A Snow Plan!

So You Want To Build A Snow Plan … I’m guessing a lot of people who will read this post title will immediately think of the song from Frozen – “Do You Want To Build A Snow Man” (see bottom of post) which is where the inspiration for me to write this came from. I was out waking in the snow thinking about recent events and it just came into my head.

I’ve just completed a series of posts about getting married in the different months of the year which was very weather focused. This is England so you can never really predict the weather and so you always need at least a “Plan B”. This winter we’ve had snow in this area on four separate occasions (so far) – in December, February and twice now in March.

This last weekend was my daughter’s “Hen” and her friends did an amazing job. They hired a fabulous cottage in the forest and she had a wonderful time. The snow came back and turned into a real fairy tale setting fortunately everybody made it there and back safely.

So You Want To Build A Snow Plan

What would happen if it snowed on your wedding day? I’ve watched with interest as many of my DJ colleagues have posted reports of how the bad weather has affected their recent bookings – some people didn’t make it, many people left early (after the meal) but most of them still managed to make the best of things. BUT, there was plenty of stress reported, probably because nobody had considered a “worse case scenario” as far as the weather and it’s impact had been thought about in advance.

So You Want To Build A Snow Plan – it could snow almost any when, and just because it snowed a couple of weeks ago doesn’t mean we won’t get some more.

  • Talk to your venue and your various suppliers and ask them how they plan to cope.
  • Don’t just think about the problems snow might bring, think about the positives and the opportunities.
  • Encourage as many of your guests as possible to book overnight accommodation so they are committed to staying.

So You Want To Build A Snow Plan – if you are considering getting married between November and April I suggest you do!

And finally …
