January is also considered a long month after the excitement of the festive season things can fall a bit flat, so starting The New Year With A January Wedding is a great way of putting some joy into everyones lives. It’s worth remembering that many people disappear off the radar over the holiday season so having all your plans in place well in advance will reduce stress in the final days before the wedding.

Temperature ~ January daytime temperatures will generally reach highs of around 9°C that’s about 48°F. At night the average minimum temperature drops down to around 4°C, that’s 38°F. In recent times the highest recorded temperature in January has been 15°C that’s 59°F, with the lowest recorded temperature -7°C, about 19°F.

Rainfall ~ The average monthly amount of precipitation has been recorded at around 73 mm, that’s 3 inches. Throughout the month you can expect to see rain or drizzle falling on 20 days of the month, with snow falling on 1 days.

Sunshine ~ expect the sun to shine for an average of 4 hours per day.

So weather-wise it’s going to be fairly bleak but there may well be opportunities to get some pictures outside. However, keep in mind it may be bright but bitter and guests will want to keep their coats on and you don’t want anyone to get chilled in the traditional sense of the word!

It’s the second Hampshire Wedding Group of the Autumn season. Again we are giving away wedding discount vouchers to spend with HWG members with a combined value of over £2000. Wedding fairs/fayres are a great place to not only find suppliers but also to just get expert advice and the Hampshire Weddingb Group members know a thing or two about weddings.

Ampfield Golf Club is a gorgeous setting for a wedding and, in my opinion, one of the best party venues in the area – it’s well worth checking out. The food and standards of service are really excellent. Last year when my sister in law wanted a venue for her 60th birthday party I had no hesitation in recommending Ampfield – we had a great time.

FREE Wedding planning evening next Tuesday that’s right, my first “Creating Your WOW Wedding” event is just a few days away.

This really is a free wedding planning evening. It’s not a sales pitch from me, just a chance for me to share some great ideas that will help couples create an amazing wedding day. It’s develops the principles set out in my “Your WOW Wedding’ booklet. Included are tips to help from the moment your friends and family arrive to the end of the last dance of the night.

It’s being held in the clubhouse at Ampfield Golf Club which is on the B3090 between Romsey and Hursley. The postcode is SO51 9BQ, there is ample parking and a very reasonably priced bar. Doors open at 7pm for a 7:30 start and we should be done around 9:30.

This is a must for anyone planning a wedding.

The WOW Wedding guy

2015 has been a great year already and there are plenty more weddings and events still to come for me.

Traditionally September has always seen an upturn in enquiries and bookings, especially from couples who are planning their weddings in the next year.  Actually the phone and email enquiries have already picked up so I’ve been sorting out my plans for the Autumn ~ and here they are, or at least some of them.

Following on from the very successful WOW Spring events I’ll be running a series of evenings for couples planning their weddings.  If you’re getting married, or know someone who is, these FREE events will really help explain how to create an amazing day.  There are the “WOW Wedding” evenings for couples and  the “Bridegroom’s workshop” for the guys.

Fifteen ~ Drinks & Photos Vlog

Here’s the latest in my ABC/123 wedding tip videos. I’ve started to work through the wedding day timeline and this episode takes a look at what happens straight after the ceremony. Usually this is a drinks reception and photos.

This is normally a fairly relaxed part of the proceedings but to make it work you should have a plan and a “plan B” just incase. It’s a good time to use the members of your team we talked about in previous episodes again, this time to help the photographer get the groups together.

Speech advice

I had a fantastic time on Tuesday with a group of guys running through my Bridegroom’s Workshop.

I can’t really go into details because the content is all Top Secret, but the focus of the evening was to explain what to expect on their wedding day and how to make the most of it.

The crazy thing is the timing of the event coincided with the Italy Vs England football friendly and yet these gentlemen all made it to get a few tips on how they can give their Brides the best day possible. Theses aren’t ordinary guys these are legends in the making.

Sammy & Sam’s Wonderful White Horse Reception

Sammy and Sam got married in Winchester Guildhall, just across the road from the bus station where Sam first set eyes on the girl of his dreams ~ there’s more to that story, but it’s not for me to share 😉

For their reception they chose The White Horse Hotel in the centre of Romsey, and what a great choice – a fabulous setting with great service and attention to detail. The White Horse has been a coaching Inn for over 600 years – for more information CLICK HERE

The wedding party arrived to brilliant sunshine and a drinks reception in the courtyard and the smiles never stopped.

Two Wonderful Weddings With Two Couples Who “Won’t Give Up”

“What are you on about?” I hear you say!

Well, a strange thing occurred in my world this weekend that’s never happened to me before. I was at two weddings, one Friday and one Saturday, with two lovely couples and they both picked the same first dance.

On Friday Sarah and Phil celebrated their wedding at The Stanwell House Hotel in Lymington.

Saturday I was with Sammy and Sam for their wedding at The White Horse Hotel in Romsey.

Two lovely couples, two totally different parties, but here’s the song both couples picked for their first dance …
