Hampshire Wedding Festival

Yesterday was the first Hampshire Wedding Festival held on The New Forest Show site at New Park Manor between Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst.

Hampshire Wedding DJ

When we arrived just after 9am there were at least twenty deer grazing next to the entrance. I used to drive along this road almost every day for ten years when I had the Disc & Tape Centre in Lymington and I’ve never seen so many in one place at the same time.

The weather had been mixed in the few days before the event and so the ground was very wet in places. Fortunately it stayed dry and the sun shone a fair amount which really helped. By the evening when everyone was home things had really changed and I think it rained continuously for about 12 hours – so we were very lucky!

New Forest Festival

We met lots of lovely couples, all with different stories to tell. I often ask about the propsal and the highlight for me was speaking to Sophie and James – you may have seen their story on the news or in the local papers when James used this method to ask the BIG question! I would love to tell their LOVE STORY

Among the other exhibitors were many of my supplier friends including 3 other members of The Hampshire Wedding Group. Next to me was the lovely Kay from Pomp & Petals with an amazing display of great ideas.

Also represented were Ampfield Golf Club with a very clever display representing elegant and rustic styles.

and Laurel Designs were just across the way with a display packed with wonderful handcrafted stationery and event decorations. (see my previous blog post about their wonderful range of services).

Also exhibiting in the same marquee as us was my good friend Antony from Light Box – great photographer and lovely bloke.

I was also very taken with Arabella the food van from MYO who were serving amazing food and coffee. Ce and I had a couple of excellent cheese and bacon grilled sandwiches.

The Hampshire Wedding Festival, is billed as “a large-scale outdoor wedding fair with live music, food and lots of fun and games for all ages”.

Organisers, South Coast Events, say …

you should think of it like the biggest wedding fair you’ll go to in Hampshire, add live music, chill out areas, food vans, shopping and loads of wedding ideas – THAT’s a wedding festival.

This is a must for anyone planning their wedding and the one event where the men will have something to do. As well as the usual wedding exhibition, there will be live music from bands and singers you can hire for your big day and an area where you can purchase snacks or lunch and a bar (woohoo!)

South Coast Events have already set up and established the Dorset Wedding Festival which has been running for a few years now, so I’m expecting The Hampshire Wedding Festival to be a great day.

hwg_logo_nAlso exhibiting at The Hampshire Wedding Festival are some of my colleagues from The Hampshire Wedding Group including …

Ampfield Golf Club

Laurel Designs

Pomp & Petals

oh, and THE Hampshire Wedding DJ ~ The Party DJ

We should all be located in a marquee together and we look forward to seeing you.

The Hampshire Wedding Festival opens at 11am and finishes at 3:30pm. There is even a creche facility available if you are bringing children.

PLEASE REMEMBER … It’s a Festival, in a field and the weather has been classic “April showers” this year so wear suitable clothing!

The Hampshire Wedding Festival is being held at The New Forest Showground, New Park, Brockenhurst, Hampshire SO42 7QH

The WOW Wedding Evening

wow_007

wow_008Two weeks ago, at the beginning of the month, I hosted an event at Ampfield Golf Club. The evening “The WOW Wedding” was all about creating an amazing wedding by focusing on making it truly personal and connecting with all of your guests.

This was the first time I’d presented on this subject and I was delighted to see plenty of couples who wanted to listen to what I had to share. The bottom line is that I believe weddings have been “dumbed down” and there are dozens things that you can do to avoid a boring wedding.

I’ll be presenting this event again in a couple of months time. I also plan to hold one of my “I’m The Man” Bridegroom’s evenings soon – these are just for the guys and are designed to explain what to expect on their wedding day and how they can make their brides day absolutely amazing.

Make A Christmas Wreath With Kay

Pomp & Petals

My friend Kay, who is a fabulous florist, has been holding a series of workshops making Christmas Wreaths.

CLICK HERE to go to the workshops page on the Pomp & Petals website.

You will be carefully guided through the basic steps of a seasonal floral arrangement within a small group, with as little or as much help as you require. At the end of the session not only will you be taking home your very own masterpiece but you will also have learnt some basic tips and had fun.

The next of these is on next Thursday afternoon, 6th December, at one of my favourite venues, The Woodlands Lodge Hotel, Bartley Road, Woodlands Southampton SO40 7GN. There is another one at the Kimbridge Farm Shop the following Tuesday, 11th December. For more information, or to book, call Kay on 01794 341110, it’s £40 including all materials and refreshments!
