Temperature ~ Throughout the month of July daytime temperatures will generally reach highs of around 22°C that’s about 72°F. At night the average minimum temperature drops down to around 13°C, that’s 56°F. In recent times the highest recorded temperature in July has been 32°C that’s 90°F, with the lowest recorded temperature 5°C, about 41°F.

Rain ~ the average monthly amount of precipitation has been recorded at around 26 mm, that’s just one inch. However, throughout the month you can expect to see rain or drizzle falling on 15 days.

Sunshine ~ in July you can expect the sun to shine for an average of 9 hours per day!

As you can see from my pictures here, July weddings can be very warm so you’re more likely to need parasols than umbrellas. If you want an outdoor ceremony July is possibly the best month but you’ll need a ‘Plan B’ – you can’t take anything for granted so you may need to switch to indoors.

So Weddings in July are often popular for the weather but you do need to beware of big sporting events that might clash, festivals etc and holiday plans that your guests may have already planned.

I love summer weddings, July is pretty much perfect but it can be hard work for everyone on a really hot day. Book me and I’ll bring suntan lotion – it’s all about attention to detail 😉

Thank You 2017

Thank You 2017, you’ve been amazing!

OK, maybe it’s a bit silly to say thank you 2017 but it has been a fun year and looking back I’m happy with how things worked out. I was thrilled to be ask to play for two of my previous brides as they celebrated “significant” birthdays, perform at a couple of great engagement parties and, of course, play a part in many wonderful WOW weddings! I also got to work at many of my favourite venues alongside many of my favourite suppliers. I continued with study, training and even did a couple of events as a speaker to help other DJ’s. It was a year full of “stuff” and another year where many unexpected changes and opportunities have brought me to a new place and a new plan for 2018… but more about that next year 😉

The year started with lots of wedding fairs/fayres/showcases and WOW events and a couple of birthday parties. There was Maxine’s 40th, then I was back at my Christmas venue The Port House for Sam’s 30th party.

In the Spring I was delighted to DJ for Vickie and Gemma’s engagement party and am looking forward to their wedding in 2018. It was great to see Karen and Ian, their friends and family again (I did their wedding in 2013) as Karen celebrated her 60th. Then it was Charlotte and Sam’s wedding and reception at The Marwell Hotel. They wrote a wonderful testimonial for me CLICK HERE.

In June there was Hannah and Alex’s stunning reception at Norton Park following their church wedding.

July started with Bex and Alex’s beautiful wedding with a church ceremony followed by a marquee reception set in the beautiful English countryside. They did another great testimonial for me CLICK HERE.

Highlights in August included Katherine and Sinbad’s wedding at The Tithe Barn CLICK HERE to see my blog post and their feedback It was also really great to be invited to the first showcase at Manor Court Farm – this venue is AMAZING! For more information PLEASE CLICK HERE Angie and Dean finally tied the knot at The Master Builders and Lucas celebrated his 21st with a huge black tie diner and dance in a marquee party at home.

September highlights included Amina and Tarik at the magnificent Tylney Hall Then there was another engagement party, this time for Libby and Glenn – I wonder if I’ll get there wedding?

October saw two brilliant weddings. Rachael and Remi at Woodland’s Lodge. It was another day full of different World traditions. The second was very special as I’ve known the bridegroom Matt literally all his life! Anna and Matt were married at their church in Southampton and then had their reception at East Horton

I decided not to “do” Christmas parties this year, instead Ce and I took another trip to Fuerteventura – and we are already planning our next visit there.

So many great parties, lovely people and amazing love stories … Thank You 2017 and bring on the New Year!

Stunning venue decor by Tie The Knot at Norton Park

Last Saturday was Alex and Hannah’s wedding at the fabulous Norton Park. I’ve been fortunate to be involved at several weddings there and it’s a beautiful setting. Hannah had asked me to recommend a venue stylist and I had no hesitation in suggesting, fellow Hampshire Wedding Group member, Suzanne from Tie The Knot Events.

When I arrived onsite just after 10am I was absolutely blown away by how beautiful the Barn, where their wedding breakfast was to be held, looked. Please remember, I see fabulous rooms beautiful decorated all the time, so when I say I was “blown away” we are talking about something exceptional!

Hannah’s colour scheme was based around lilac and champagne and the effect Suzanne had created with florist Judy was absolutely stunning.

As you can see from my snaps the tables had lilac table covers with gorgeous centrepieces which were complimented by more flowers wrapped around the barns beams which were also highlighted with fairly lights.

Tie The Knot Decor

The evening party was held in the Norton Suite where the tables and chairs were covered in black with white table cloths and champagne coloured runners. Suzanne had also added more fairy lights and Chinese Lanterns above the dance floor.  The centre pieces were moved from the barn to finish the tables. I hope to post more about this beautiful wedding in the future so please stay tuned.

This wedding was held on one of the hottest days of the year, possibly the hottest day I’ve every worked, the barn is air-conditioned which obviously helped but the decorations still looked amazing, even after the celebrations had ended and and everyone had gone to bed.

I was so pleased I recommended Suzanne to Hannah and Alex, she really brought Hannah’s dream to life.

I’ve had the pleasure to work alongside Suzanne on many occasions and I can honestly say her attention to detail is second to none. She was onsite at Norton Park on the Friday and Saturday putting this all together and then again on the Sunday to take everything out – it takes a lot of work and planning to bring something like this together.

Happy Monday ~ I Really Love What I Do

Happy Monday everyone, have I ever mentioned that I really love what I do!

I’ve just been taking a break from writing the WOW Countdown blogs and took a look at the wonderful card I received from Kelly & Neil over the weekend. I haven’t really posted much about this years weddings yet – it’s all been such a mad blur! Kelly and Neil’s wedding holds a special place in my heart because I’ve known him since he was a nipper, in fact he was The Party DJ for a while when I stopped DJ’ing to focus on other thing.

Kelly and Neil met while they were both working in Shanghai, Kelly is from Canada and they now live in Denmark … as you can imagine their wedding took a fair amount of organising! I was glad I was able to help with this.

Kelly and Neil chose the gorgeous Norton Park just north of Winchester for their celebration and it was perfect. The ceremony was held in The Hampshire Barn, then everyone went for drinks, canapés and photos by the Manor House. The wedding breakfast was back in The Hampshire Barn and then the evening party was held in The Norton Suite. I provided ceremony music, master of ceremonies and DJ’d alongside the excellent band Hitwave .

It was also the wedding where I finally got to work alongside the brilliant Az Rehman from Lemontree Photography. I can see why so many local photographers speak so highly of Az, he’s a lovely gentleman and his photography (as demonstrated by the pictures on this post) are absolutely wonderful.
