The Party Hosts

Studiorouge Commercial

As well as trading as The Party DJ I’m also very proud to be part of The Party Hosts with Alan and Gary. The Party Hosts came about because the three of us are great friends, share values, had all trained with Mark and Rebecca Ferrell among others, and live fairly close to each other. We originally got together to offer back-up for our clients in the event of something unforseen happening to any of us just prior to a booking. We then decided it might be a good plan to develop a brand that we could market and build together.

It’s now about a year since we got together and things are really starting to take off. Yesterday we launched our Wedding Entertainment Show – our weekly video tips on planning your wedding from an entertainment perspective.

We also started The Party Hosts blog here The Party Hosts

This weekend will also see the start of another of our Party Hosts projects … but we’ll tell you about that next week, when we should have some pictures.

Finally, for now, we have also been entered for the 2014 Wedding industry Awards

Just a very quick post about yesterday’s wedding at the lovely Wick Barn

First I must thank my friend, and Party Hosts colleague, Gary Evans for his help throughout the day. I’ve had some vehicle issues and Gary very kindly offered to act as driver, roadie, support team and photographer – what a legend.

This was my first time performing at Wick Barn. I visited with the clients last year and was really looking forward to playing there – I wasn’t disappointed. The Barn is a lovely setting and under the expert supervision of Hannah from Strawberry Field Catering the day went really well. For more information about Wick Barn CLICK HERE.

Kirstie & Darren

Saturday’s wedding … where to begin!

I’ll post more soon, but for now let’s focus on their first dance as husband and wife. For this special moment Kirstie and Darren chose Ellie Goulding’s version of Your Song

Following that Kirstie danced with her Dad, Colin, and Darren with his Mum, Rita, to this beautiful song from Faith Hill.

Keeping Focused

This week I’ve been very privileged to spend time with some fantastic people from the world of DJ’ing. I spent much of the week studying and working on my skills as a Master Of Ceremonies with Mark and Rebecca Ferrell.

Mark and Rebecca are from California, they were asked to come to the UK and run some workshops by very good friend Alan Marshall. They have done what very few others have attempted and actually analysed how we carry out our duties in the most minute detail. They focus on every word you use and the way you say it.

There were eight of us taking the course and I’d met all the guys previously, all great DJ’s, and I felt very humbled to be working with such brilliant talent. We had such a brilliant time learning together, there were also plenty of “banter” and laughs, a good time was had by all.

To say that I found my two days with Mark, Rebecca, Alan and the lads rewarding is an understatement! The great news is that I’m taking part in the Silver workshop with them next week – I can’t wait.

Master Of Ceremonies and Wedding Etiquette course

Yesterday I had a fantastic day with a group of colleagues learning all about the role of a Master of Ceremonies and Wedding Etiquette with Brian Wroe.

Brian is a very experienced public speaker and Toastmaster from the Northeast. He made the day really interesting and challenging as he took us out of our comfort zone and guided us through the various responsibilities of the Wedding Master of Ceremonies.

I thoroughly recommend Brian to anyone who is looking for a Wedding Toastmaster, Master of Ceremonies, After Dinner Speaker, Motivational Speaker or Public Speaking Coach.

The event was actually put together by Toby from Bogfrog who are committed to raising standards in the disco and entertainment industry, and this workshop certainly was very well received by everyone who took part.

This was the first of a series of events I’m taking part in this Spring to help me to deliver the best possible service to my clients. In April I will be taking two workshops with top American trainer Mark Ferrell – more about that soon.

Finally I would like to thank Brian for a really informative and fun day …
I love my job 😉

Southampton Guildhall

Yesterday we were at the Southampton Guildhall for the first Wedding Daze Exhibition of 2012 and it was my pleasure to compere and supply the music for the fashion show. The dresses for the show were provided by Josephine’s Bridal Collection from Southampton and Brides of Winchester. Hair and make-up for the Brides was taken care of by Kutz N Beauty, Once Upon A Time Tiaras and Penny Lane Flowers provided the tiaras and floral arrangements on the catwalk.

It was fantastic to see so many couples that, even these difficult times, want to show each other, and the world, their commitment and love.
