Life Sounds Better To Music ~ July 2020

Life Sounds Better To Music ~ September 2020

Another month of madness. In fairness, I don’t have much to complain about but September 2020 has been a tough month again for many people all over the world. At least there has been more great new tunes to enjoy, Life Sounds Better To Music ~ September 2020.

Chanelle & Eric Kupper ~ One Man (Michael Gray Remix)

A rework of one of my favourite floor-fillers from 1989, this is my tune of the month – THIS is something to smile about!
The original version was produced by Blaze, this time Eric Kupper is in that role remaining true to the original but giving it a fabulous fresh feel. Put on your dancing shoes and leave your troubles behind for over 5 minutes of pure joy.

Lovers & Poets ~ Follow You Follow Me

Lovers and Poets are husband-and-wife team of Shannon Hurley and Ben Eisen. I featured their track “Nevergonnastop” back in April (please click here). Now they’re back again, this time with a chilled out Genesis cover!!!

“Follow You Follow Me” was a hit for Phil Collins and Co in 1978. In this version, Shannon sounds a little like Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys to me. To find out more about Lovers And Poets CLICK HERE.

Show Me Love (Cafe del Mar Edit)

The formula is simple, take one of the biggest dance anthems of the last 30 years and make a Cafe del Mar styled chill-out version. This one absolutely nails it.

Based on the 1990 Robin S song that was a hit in many different versions in the UK in 1993, 1997, 2009 and 2015, I don’t think it’s likely to chart in this version but I love it. It’s one of the stand-out tracks on this year’s official Cafe del Mar album Volume 26.

Sigala ft James Arthur ~ Lasting Lover

Right from the start, with very clever use of a sample of the hook from of MGMT’s 2008 hit ‘Time to Pretend’, this is a late summer smash. Actually written by Lewis Capaldi, the song features James Arthur on vocals fusing perfectly with Sigala’s dance beats and melody and the MGMT sample.

Alicia Keys ~ Love Looks Better

In fairness I could have taken most of the tracks from the new Alicia Keys album (“Alicia”). This is her seventh studio album and was due out earlier in the year but delayed because of … well, you know. Lots of the tracks were therefore already available but the whole album was released on 10th September and I had it on repeat for many of my walks in the final days of the month.

Here’s a bonus for you, another track from the album, “Underdog” recorded for The Late Late Show with James Corden

WOW! Life sounds better to music ~ September 2020, maybe it wasn’t such a bad month after all. See you soon.

Life Sounds better to music ~ April 2020

Life Sounds Better To Music ~ April 2020

Life Sounds Better To Music ~ April 2020. I don’t think there’s ever been a time, for ages, when Life Sounds better to music was more appropriate for me than April 2020! Being able to shut the world out with great music certainly helped me get through. I even accepted one of those “share 10 albums” invitations on FaceBook and ended up posting almost 100. So here are just a few individual songs that had me dancing in April.

Róisín Murphy ~ Murphy’s Law

First known as the singer on Moloko’s hits “Sing It Back “and “The Time Is Now”, Róisín Murphy has been part of the dance scene for 20 years. There are some great mixes of this, her latest release. Please Click Here to see Róisín dancing in LockDown to the Murphy Vs Murphy Remix.

Fuerte Fine Radio Lockdown

April saw the launch of Gary, my Fuerte Fine Wedding’s buddy, new weekly radio show. He’s featured some great feel-good music including many fantastic versions of songs that fit the Fuerteventura vibe. Gary invited me to share “The Soundtrack Of My Life” on episode 4.

Gary would love to feature your requests on the show. So, please get in touch with him at gary@fuertefineweddings.co.uk

Lovers & Poets ~ Nevergonnastop

I found this track in a very random way. I was listening to one of the many podcasts I follow, it’s called Love That Album. The show’s host, Maurice Burszkynski, had the couple, Ben and Shannon, from Lovers & Poets on talking about a Wilko album. I’m not really interested in Wilco but I loved what I heard of Lovers & Poets!

Chaka Khan ~ I Know You, I Live You

One of the highlights of the month was the Glitterbox Virtual Festival on 17th April. First up was resident DJ Melvo Babtiste who soon got to a gem of a remix of this brilliant Chaka Khan track. “I Know You, I Live You” is originally from her 1981 album “What Cha’ Gonna Do for Me”. The remix was by Moplen, I haven’t managed to find it yet but I think it’s my track of the month.
