New Music June 2021

Every month (CLICK HERE for the last one) I post some of the music that’s really grabbed my attention. Most of it is new. Sometimes it’s an older track I’ve missed. Occasionally it’s something from an advert – once is actually an advert with not much music, just a guy reading a speech. Anyway, here’s new music June 2021 is a pretty good month.

John Mayer ~ Last Train Home

A new John Mayer track from his upcoming album ‘Sob Rock’. John Mayer is an artist who has never really crossed over in the UK but I’ve been a fan for over 20 years since he first came on my radar. His “relationships” have made him a bit of a reputation in America but he has always delivered great albums. If you don’t know him and like this track I recommend you go down the YouTube rabbit hole – there’s a lot to discover.

Diana Ross ~ Thank You

More brand new material from someone who’s been away for a while! Actually, way more than a “someone” – a legend who should have been touring the world for the last year – indeed, she would have been playing the” Legends” spot as Glastonbury last year.
Taken from her first new album in 15 years, which is now due in September, – Ladies and Gentleman this is Miss Diana Ross “Thank You”!

Diplo & Damian Lazarus – Don’t Be Afraid (feat. Jungle)

If you read these blog posts regularly, you will know I’m a big fan of the act/collective/band Jungle. This is their latest collaboration, the time with American DJ, producer, artist Diplo and Damian Lazarus.

Most of you will have heard of American DJ, producer, artist Diplo who is no stranger to the charts with numerous guest singers.

Googling the latter his website says “Damian Lazarus not only one of the most respected exponents of the contemporary house and techno scene but also one of its key tastemakers and pathfinders.”

P.S. Diplo is short for Diplodocus – from his childhood fascination with dinosaurs!

Jam & Lewis feat Mariah Carey ~ Somewhat Loved (There You Go Breakin’ My Heart) 

Mariah Carey has teamed up with legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to release a new single. The song is from Jam & Lewis’ upcoming debut studio album as recording artists, and will also feature songs with Mary J. Blige, Boyz II Men and Morris Day, and Toni Braxton. This one is a real grower.

Shapeshifters feat Aria Lyric ~ YOLO

Simon from Shapeshifters is back with another great single, this time featuring New Jersey singer songwriter Aria Lyric on vocals. ‘You Only Live Once’ is another uplifting dance track guaranteed to fill the club dance floors of the world as we return from our numerous quarantines, lock downs and isolations.

Life Sounds Better To Music In April 2021

Life Sounds Better To Music In April 2021 and yet again more great new music to buy and add to my collection. That’s right, I buy new music. I have a t-shirt that I got years ago which says “Buying records cheers me up… Whenever I feel low, I buy some new records”. I’ll just leave that there.

Jungle ~ Keep Moving

Jungle have become one of the Top 5 bands I want to see live in recent years. I found them because their music was used in a lot of adverts a few years back. I love their moody vibe. Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland founded their Jungle collective in 2013 – their third album “Loving In Stereo is due for release in August but this track came out at the beginning of the month.

Peyton ~ Moon River ~ Eric Kupper’s Lunar Eclipped Club Mix)

This is one of those songs that takes me way back to my childhood, and my mum preparing food in our bungalow while listening to, what I think must have been, a valve radio. Moon River – composed by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer. It was originally performed by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song – that was a brand new  version of Moon River by Peyton (and this is the Eric Kupper’s Full Eclipse Club Mix), 

The Isley Brothers featuring Ronald Isley &Snoop Dogg ~ Friends and Family

This absolutely blew my socks off! At a time when we are all thinking about getting back together with family and friends, this song absolutely nails it. Life Sounds Better To Music In April 2021 and this track proves that. I really hope there is even more to come from the Isley’s.

Raquel Rodriguez ~ Last Night

Finally, the last few tracks from the project get released and so Sweet Side is complete. If you follow this blog you’ll know about my love for Raquel Rodriguez, her husband Sam and their friends, this is another track that stands on it’s own – it’s SO flippin’ good! Last month I featured Read The Room, another track from the project CLICK HERE

That was just a few of the great new tracks that have made April easier to take. Having the radio show with Gary on Real FM means I actually get to share new tracks every week and I love doing that. The show has now switched to Sunday afternoons and this Sunday will be Show 21. CLICK HERE for a post on the Fuerte Fine Weddings page with links to all of the Sunday night shows.

Good Friday, Walk All Over Cancer Challenge.

Snowy Walk All Over Cancer ~ Day 2

Today it’s Friday 2nd March and it’s Walk All Over Cancer ~ Day 2. If you are reading this when it’s new you’ll know the UK is gripped by some of the coldest weather we’ve experienced in years. Schools are closed and there are plenty of problems on the roads and train network in my area which is very unusual.  I ventured out just after 9:30am and walked for about an hour and I managed over 6,000 steps – I hope to go out again later – so fingers crossed!

As I said yesterday, I’m not going to pester people to donate. I think my plan is to donate a quid every time I complete 10,000 steps – I’m committed to doing the 310,000 steps in the 31 days and I’ll add a few more as I hit various targets along the way, so it will add up to a few quid.

If you know me well you will know our lives have been tainted by cancer and I always do my best to contribute when asked. I really believe that the fight against this terrible disease is getting somewhere – we’ve noticed changes and improvements in the care given since Ce was fist diagnosed with breast cancer back in December 2002. It would be amazing if cancer wasn’t a problem for future generations.

Walk All Over Cancer ~ Day 2

At least one of my local DJ friends had a wedding yesterday and many of my wedding supplier friends are trying to work out how they are going to get to their venues today and tomorrow. The main roads locally were fairly clear without much traffic, the problems are on the minor roads. If you have a look around this blog you will find posts about getting married in the various months of the year like THIS ONE about March Weddings.

Walk All Over Cancer ~ Day 2

So that’s Walk All Over Cancer ~ Day 2. Secondly … the Facebook thing which is supposed to be “10 LPs that make the “favourites” playlist. Post a cover a day, no explanation, nominate a person a day.” I’m going to post something every day during the Walk All Over Cancer challenge on my Facebook page but give it some context here.

The album I listened to on my walk today was Jungle (CLICK HERE to go to their website). I love this album which came out in 2014. Jungle are basically a duo of two guys, Josh and Tom, and they add loads of others when they play live. I love the groove they create and for me they paved the way (in my head at least) for The Weeknd (who will probably feature here later this month).

Jungle have a new album due this year and are touring here in May but I think I’m not cool enough to be allowed in.
