I was Libby and Glenn’s Engagement Party DJ

I was Libby and Glenn’s Engagement Party DJ last Saturday just down the road from The Party DJ HQ at the Colbury Hall.

I was delighted when I got a FaceBook message from Libby enquiring about my availability, I scheduled a meeting with them both and explained how I felt they could make the most of the party.

Glenn and Libby love a photo opportunity and had a huge collection of photos I turned into a photo montage with my big screen on the stage. They had over 400 pictures including many with their family and friends which kept everybody entertained for the early part of the evening.

We had talked about how the evening should run and after a meet and greet we opened the buffet at about 8:30, then Libby’s dad and Glenn made short speeches before we kicked off the dancing – everything flowed really well and a good time was had by all.

I haven’t always been a fan of engagement parties but over the last couple of years I feel the advice I’ve been able to share with my couples has helped them create great parties. Often this is the first time the two families have met and it’s good to bring everybody together ahead of the wedding. I also offer a special deal on wedding bookings to couples who get me to do an engagement party for them!

I was Libby and Glenn’s Engagement Party DJ last Saturday and I’m hoping I’ll be their wedding DJ too!

Vikky & Gemma’s Engagement Party

Last Friday night was Vikky & Gemma’s Engagement Party.

I met Vikky & Gemma at the Rhinefield House wedding fair a few weeks ago and they requested a copy of my WOW Wedding Guide (email me if you’d like a copy ~ paul@thepartydj.co.uk). They came around for a chat and decided to book me for their engagement party.

Vikky & Gemma’s Engagement Party was held at AFC Totton’s clubhouse. I’ve played there several times before but not recently and they’ve changed the set up position for the DJ – it’s probably even better now. The team running the venue are always very helpful and it’s a great room for a party.

I suggested running a photomontage for Vikky and Gemma and they came up with plenty of great pictures – a lot of funny shots and plenty of romantic ones too. It kept everyone entertained from the moment they arrived.

We decided to go with a running order of …
Meet & Greet 7:00 ~ 8:30
Food 8:30 ~ 9:00
Cake, thank you’s and a group photo 9:30
Party 9:45 ~ 11:30
Finish 11:30

Vikky and Gemma had plenty of input on the music choices, we had lots of George Michael with some Shadows and Drifters for the parents for the background music, with plenty of their favourite dance floor classics during the party. The evening ended with Vikky and Gemma dancing to “Marry Me” from the new Robbie Williams album.

That was Vikky & Gemma’s Engagement Party, hopefully I’ll be reporting on their wedding in August 2018.

Saturday Night

Saturday night was great fun. The event was Carly and Christopher’s engagement party at the excellent Roddington Forge. It was also a chance for Joe to come along and play Tag-Team on the decks. We had a fine time mixing some classic hip-hop, dance anthems, current floor-fillers and a few cheesy tracks from back in the day that went down almost too well!

All together now …
“Get on up when you’re down
Baby, take a good look around
I know it’s not much, but it’s okay
Keep on moving on anyway”

Great people and good times!
