Annie’s Party

AT2

Last weekend I was delighted to travel up to Surrey to play for Annie’s birthday party. Annie and I spoke a couple of times on the phone prior to the event and talked about the music and how the evening was going to be set out.

There is a large stage at the venue which I could have used but I was very keen to set up on the floor so that the guests could come and talk with me easily.

Once all the guests arrived Annie made a lovely speech before cutting her very special birthday cake. She actually baked the cake herself and her friend Claire decorated it – it was delicious, Annie gave me a large piece which I enjoyed with my morning coffee the next day.

Today I received a lovely email from Annie, here are a couple of snippets …

“I didn’t totally believe you initially about making my party unforgettable … that is an understatement … it was an awesome evening”

“…one of my brothers couldn’t believe I had only met you an hour before the party .. he thought we’d known each other sometime!! You blended into the party and were great with guests requests.”

The weekend starts here …

Sally’s Birthday Party

I had a brilliant time on Friday night at Sally’s birthday party. The event was held in the upstairs room at The Hythe Club, with a relatively small crowd consisting of close family and friends – what a lovely group of people they were too.

Karen, Sally’s daughter, first phoned me back in June when we were on our holiday in Majorca. We arranged a meeting when I got back, and Sally and Karen told me all about the music they’d like and we talked about how the evening would run. When the party finally happened it all went very smoothly and both Karen and her brother Steven made short speeches before Sally thanked everyone and cut her fabulous cake.

There were lots of great dancers who showed us some very impressive moves, Sally and her friends also demonstrated some fine line-dancing, and there was lots of singing along to a mix of music from the fifties and sixties right up to date.

Special thanks to Grandson Freddie, who helped me out all evening and who led the singing of Happy Birthday.

A Taste Of Summer

It’s all a bit manic at the moment getting ready for my run of Christmas Diner Dances at the DeVere Grand Harbour Hotel and Saturday’s Wedding for Cath and Paul, so I haven’t had a chance to do any new videos this week. The weather has turned wintery earlier than usual – much of the country has snow, but not us – yet!

So, here’s a video we shot at the beginning of Summer for Mark’s 50th Birthday party to remind us all of what lovely weather we can look forward to. It was a great event with a lovely group of people and the very talented Ellie Price.

Here’s a video Directed by Mark’s son James of Ellie’s track “Pencilled in”

Ellie Price singing her brilliant, original song, ‘Pencilled In’ in a music video. Directed by James Harding as part of a Gold Arts Award Project. Hope you like it!
