Life Sounds Better To Music ~ August 2020
Life Sounds Better To Music ~ August ~ the latest in my series of what’s been on my playlist this year. August was a strange month for me. I had some time in Fuerteventura and then two weeks of self-isolation back in England and I had a lot of time on my hands but I also seemed to have no time at all!
Musically it was strange too. There weren’t many new releases to get excited about but here are a few that I enjoyed.
Toni Braxton ~ Dance
“I just wanna dance” – well you can’t, so just sit down and tap your toes until this CV19 thing is sorted!
Toni Braxton is probably best known for her 1996 hit Un-break My Heart, with it’s excellent Frankie Knuckles dance mix click here. This new track to me sounds a bit dated and I’ve been looking for a cooler remix. So far I’ve only found the Dave Aude remix click here which doesn’t really do it for me. I’ll keep looking, I’m sure there’s one out there somewhere. It’s such a shame Frankie Knuckles is no longer with us to work his magic.
Bruno Major ~ Nothing
It’s been quite a mellow month for me. This guy came on my radar, thanks to the excellent “Switched On Pop” podcast. It’s very chilled, easy listening, lo-fi pop, but there’s nothing wrong with that.
Taylor Swift ~ The 1 (from Folklore)
Another mellow listen, at least as far as the music is concerned. Taylor Swift turns in a very good album covering some dark topics. In style it reminds me of the albums John Mayer was making a few years back.
Gregory Porter ~
Finally, right at the end of the month, the long-awaited new album from Gregory Porter came out. You may remember back in January I featured “Revival” (Click Here) At that time the album “All Rise” was expected in the middle of April but it was finally released on the last Friday of August… and that sums up 2020! I have a signed CD … I couldn’t resist!
That’s Life Sounds Better To Music ~ August 2020. I’ll be back in a few weeks with my September picks, in the meantime have fun and stay safe.
