Boxing Day 1982

Boxing Day 1982, 30 years ago today, was the day I proposed to my wonderful wife Ce. We went for a drive and a walk in the New Forest in the company car I was using at the time (a brown Austin Allegro estate) and I had a bottle of Champagne in a cool box in the boot. This happened in the Bolderwood car park around 11:30am.

We had then arranged to meet with Ce’s sister Kath and her boyfriend (now husband) Martyn and go for a pub lunch afterwards just down the road at the New Forest Inn at Emery Down, Lyndhurst.

Today we went for a quick drive to revisit the sites – Bolderwood was much busier and there even were people starting to cook lunch despite the grey damp conditions, the pub was also very busy and we just grabbed a quick drink to raise a toast to the last 30 years.
