3 Steps To A Wedding In The Future.

Here are 3 steps to a Wedding in the future. Following on from yesterdays “Stay Alert” message, and my previous blog post on what will weddings look like after lockdown CLICK HERE. This morning Yahoo posted an interesting article CLICK HERE Anyway, I thought it was time to offer some more advice.

Let me again remind you that I don’t know what will happen. These are just my thoughts based on my extensive knowledge of, playing at, and helping to plan, weddings.

If you are one of the many couples who’s wedding has already been postponed, or are now thinking about planning your wedding for the first time, never forget … you’ve found The One – the person you want to spend the rest of your life with! So even though everything may seem uncertain, and a bit S**T, you are still VERY lucky.

If you can come through everything that’s happening in the world now, without wanting to murder each other, you should be in with a good chance going forward!

So, what is the solution to wedding planning right now?

How can you make a plan that will actually come to fruition?

Never forget, “we don’t know what we don’t know!” Before this whole thing kicked off, we lived in a time where maybe we thought we knew everything. Or at least, where anything we wanted to know was just a click or two away. So, this blog post could be shot down later today or tomorrow.

Step 1 ~ The Ceremony

When weddings resume, it is likely that numbers will be limited, very limited. Choosing the people you want to share this precious moment in time with isn’t going to be easy. There will be a limit on the total number in the room. That number will include the two of you, and the registrars, or minister if you’re having a religious ceremony. These rules will be strictly enforced so you’ll need to think carefully about the choices you make.

I think you should seriously consider including a photographer in your ceremony numbers.

I wrote a post for the Fuerte Fine Weddings blog a while back titled “3 ways to keep the people who can’t attend your Fuerteventura Wedding happy” – PLEASE CLICK HERE. It covers some ideas you can use now.

Photographs and video will mean you can share the day with everyone who couldn’t attend, and will also bring back memories for years to come. You can also consider live streaming so people can be with you virtually regardless of the rules.

Step 2 ~ Photographs

As I’ve said, I think you should always have a professional photographer at your Ceremony. However, I also think you should consider a separate session with your photographer. Having special pictures to look back on years to come is a beautiful thing.

This is one of the things I’d love to see changed with future weddings … let me explain. The couple are frequently caught up in a photo session for around an hour after their wedding before the meal. During this time they find themselves torn between the photographer and their guests. Planning a separate session with the photographer to create a romantic album is something that happens abroad. I think it could become a big thing in the UK, especially in the current circumstances. This means they can go where they want, for as long as they want, without ignoring their friends and family.

Step 3 ~ The Party

The big wedding feast and evening party seem to be impossible in the current situation. So plan one for the future. Imagine coming together with everyone when all this is over, without wedding day stress, just celebrating! It could be as soon as things get relaxed or perhaps on your anniversary, whatever works for you! You can show your photographs and videos and celebrate big time.

You really can include anything you want to. You might consider a blessing or celebrant-led ceremony. Followed by a traditional wedding reception meal, a cake, speeches, all the usual wedding “stuff. Or, just have a totally relaxed informal get-together.

Conclusion

That’s my 3 steps to a Wedding in the future. It’s different in some ways to a wedding held before CV19 but it could be an answer for some. What it certainly offers is a simpler, less stressful experience that also could save money.
