Day Two ~ The WOW Wedding Countdown … 29!

Just in case you missed it yesterday, the WOW Wedding Countdown is a tip a day that I hope will help you with your wedding planning and give you a flavour of how attending my “Creating Your WOW Wedding” evening might benefit you.

countdown-day-2

Wow Wedding Countdown ~ Tip 2
The “O” in WOW stands for OTHERS
Get others involved in your wedding.
You will have talented friends and family who will love to help you prepare for your special day.

Have your family and friends participate directly in your wedding day. This goes way beyond just inviting them to do a reading at your ceremony.
For example, if you have a professional or gifted amateur singer or musician attending, ask them to perform for your ceremony or during the reception.
I’ve been at weddings which included performances by guests who were singers, guitarists, actors, comedians and magicians.
You may know people who are gifted in crafts and making things … the list goes on.
Maybe it could be a special dance routine with friends, hens or stags.
When you are creating your WOW wedding get others involved and everything will become more memorable!

At my Creating Your WOW Wedding evening on 15th November I’ll be running through a wedding timeline explaining how you can use these ideas to make your wedding totally unique, elegant and fun. Tickets are £10 per couple and there is a money-back guarantee AND every £10 goes to The Countess Mountbatten Hospice. If you liked to know more about the event PLEASE CLICK HERE, or email paul@thepartydj.co.uk

You can also follow the WOW Wedding Countdown on my FaceBook page CLICK HERE It would fantastic if you give the page a Like and share it with your friends ~ thanks x.

WOW Wedding Countdown ~ 30 Days To Go!

So, I hear you ask, “what is the WOW Wedding Countdown”?

wow-wedding-countdown-30

Well in 30 days time, on 15th November, I’m hosting my Autumn “Creating Your WOW Wedding” event at Ampfield Golf & Country Club, and to give you a flavour of how attending might benefit you I’m going to do a WOW Wedding Countdown with a new tip every day.

To start the WOW Wedding Countdown off here’s the first W of the (slightly dodgy) WOW acronym …

WOW Wedding Countdown ~ 30
W = WEAVE your two personalities into your wedding day.
Fill the day with your favourite things.
Create a day that shows everybody who you are and what it means to you to share it with them.

The best way to wow your guests and get them engaged at your wedding is to give them an emotional experience of a wedding that is totally YOU! The secret to having a wedding that really feels like “you” is by weaving your personality into your wedding day as much as possible.

Just think about the interests and hobbies of both yourself and your fiancé in order to find the inspiration for dozens of ways to make your wedding totally unique. The music you love can provide a soundtrack throughout the whole day.

I’m going to explain how to incorporate your WOW factors throughout your wedding at my “Creating Your WOW Wedding” evening, if you liked to know more about the event PLEASE CLICK HERE, or email paul@thepartydj.co.uk

Save The Date ~ Tuesday 15th November

Save the date, this Autumn I’ll be hosting another of my “Creating Your WOW Wedding” evenings.

save-the-date

It’s being held on Tuesday 15th November at Ampfield Golf Club and I’ll be running through how your wedding day will go and what you can do to make the most of every moment. I expand on the principles set out in my “Your WOW Wedding” booklet – you can see a preview of the booklet (click here) and if you want to see the whole thing just email me and I’ll hook you up.

Tickets for this event are available for just £10 per couple (and their parents if they’d like to attend). ALL the ticket money will be donated to The Countess Mountbatten Hospice. However this evening comes with a full money back guarantee – if you stay and at the end feel you haven’t had value for money I will give you your £10 back out of my own pocket – the charity will still receive your £10. Also if you go on to book me for your wedding you’ll get your entrance deducted from fee and free admission to my future events including my Bridegroom’s evening.

Did you see my last post about Hannah and Dan’s wedding? Here’s what they had to say about attending on of my WOW evenings …

“Paul invited us to his ‘WOW’ wedding event at Ampfield Golf course, which was amazing! We took our parents a long too and we were all blown away. I think what really struck us was Paul was so passionate about how people felt, having that great feeling, not just us as the bride and groom, but family and friends, which was so important to us.”

I also hope to be joined on the 15th by some of my favourite wedding supplier friends who will be on-hand to tell you their tips and ideas.

So make sure you save the date and join us on Tuesday 15th November at Ampfield Golf Club. Doors open at 7:00pm for a 7:30pm start. Email paul@thepartydj.co.uk to register your interest now and reserve your seats.

Real Weddings

Party DJ Real Weddings

Real Weddings from real couples just like you! That’s the idea and that’s what I’ve finally got together with a lot of help from some very special friends.

One of the things I’ve always believed in is only using real pictures of couples I’ve worked with – I hate misrepresentation and the use of “stock images” and even stolen pictures on websites. So my website and literature has always featured my couples – Real Weddings that I’ve been blessed to play a part in.

Recently a few people, fellow wedding professionals and even clients, have told me I should feature more about these Real Weddings and so I’ve started this new booklet. What I’ve tried to do is give a flavour of each wedding without listing everything that happened – hopefully it will give plenty of ideas to couples planning their big day. I will be adding more weddings both old and new as time goes on, every couple have given their permission to be included and have also been consulted about their entry because that’s they way I try and do things – I never take anything for granted.

PLEASE CLICK HERE to open Real Weddings and have a look.

This is one of a number of booklets going onto my website now, so please have a look at the changes I’ve been making with the help of my brilliant website designer Deon from Deon Design.

I’d like to thank Shellie & Matt, Sarah & Dave, Kate & Colin, Axy & Jez, Amy & Kristin, Karen & Billy, Lisa & Karl, Kat & Gareth, Emma & Simon, Josh & Max, Abi & Marcus, Emma & Craig, Charlotte & Simon, Lauren & Dave, Claire & David and Kerry & Ashley for their support.

If you are one of my couples and would like your Real Wedding to be included please let me know, thanks.

ABC/123 Episode 20 Wedding Breakfast Ice Breakers

Welcome to ABC/123 Episode 20 Wedding Breakfast Ice Breakers. Last week I posted about planning your Wedding Breakfast and three very basic ideas that I believe can help you make your meal more personal so that your guests feel more connected. To see that video PLEASE CLICK HERE.

For me, that’s the key to creating an amazing wedding day – make sure everybody feels connected. These are the people you’ve chosen to share the biggest party you may ever throw, so make sure they feel you really care about them. So giving a “welcome”, saying ‘grace” and playing background music that reflects who you are and creates the atmosphere you want are great places to start.

The simple ice breakers in this weeks video will help break down any apprehensions your guests might have. You are going to show them that this is a celebration and that the party has already begun so they should relax and have fun.

A simple Wedding Quiz ~ I suggest 20 questions about you (you can see examples of this in my “Real Weddings” booklet.

Pearls of Wisdom cards are another favourite of mine. Simple cards with various sentences that your guests can finish – for example “To have a long and happy marriage I would …” and “The One thing never to say is …”

Photo challenges ~ getting your guests to take photos on their phones and cameras with a list of suggested topics, or the Bride and Bridegroom going around the room taking selfies with each table.

All three of these will get people talking and having fun – even if they’ve never met the other guests at their table before.

Next time I’m going to take a look at the speeches – including who traditionally speaks, what they say, and in what order – and don’t panic, there really is nothing to worry about!

Don’t forget to check out all the videos in this series and if you have any questions or other things you’d like me to cover in the ABC/123 series Thanks for watching episode 20 Wedding Breakfast Ice Breakers.

Dates For Your Diary

Here are some dates for your diary ~ it’s a busy start to 2016 for The Party DJ

On the 10th January we were at the Rhinefield House Wedding Fayre and spoke to lots of couples at various stages on their wedding planning. I had a conversation with one couple who had been told about a year ago by another DJ (on the phone) that they didn’t need to think about booking their entertainment until about six months before their big day … WRONG! They are now struggling to find anyone who is available for their wedding this July. Wedding events are a great time to talk to different suppliers and find the people you like or just get different ideas.

Sixteen ~ The Receiving Line

DJ MC The Receiving Line Beaulieu Hotel

It’s back! My ABC/123 Wedding Basics video series returns for 2016 with a slightly different look. Episode sixteen is all about the often neglected tradition of The Receiving Line.

I believe weddings have been dumbed down in recent years and many traditions have been forgotten or ignored because people just don’t know what they were for. The Receiving Line is a very good example of this.

A Receiving Line is the “lineup” where everybody files past the Bride and Bridegroom and possibly their parents, on their way into the wedding breakfast. So, here’s the scene …
you’ve had your ceremony and just finished your drinks reception and photo’s. The reality will be that you’ve hardly had a chance to talk to anyone. Most of the previous hour, or so, has been taken up with those very important photos. The Receiving Line gives you an opportunity to speak to all your guests personally and thank them for coming.

This however does have pros and cons, you will be able to welcome everyone but unmanaged this can take up a lot of time. For example, if you have 60 guests and you speak to each of them for just 30 seconds that will take 30 minutes! But don’t panic, this can be managed.

As with everything on your wedding day it’s best to have a plan. The best way is to keep it to a simple thank you with maybe a hug and a kiss. The temptation when talking to friends and family is to have a catch up, but there will be plenty of time for that later.

Now the next question is who should be in the receiving line ? Traditionally it would be first, Parents of the Bride followed by Parents of the Groom, then the Bride & Bridegroom and then possibly the Maid of Honour and Best Man, but at your wedding it’s up to you! If there is space you can also use this time to get photos of the two of you with everyone in small groups and couples.

This period of the day really is a great time to connect with your guests, say thank you, and set up a great Grand Entrance for your Wedding Breakfast.

If I can help in any way please let me know. Just email paul@thepartydj.co.uk

Bridegroom’s Workshop ~ The Ring Studio ~ Thursday

My last event of the year is this Thursday 3rd December at The Ring Studio and it’s for guys only! (I know it says “Workshop” but there’s no work involved I guarantee.)

It’s FREE Bridegroom’s Evening ~ no, not an evening to grab a FREE Bridegroom, this an evening to help the guys understand exactly what they can do to help make your wedding day amazing!

There will be help with the speech, what to expect and much more, there’s even a free drink!

Bridegroom's evening

This evening is exclusively for Bridegrooms-to-be but they can bring their Best Man or another friend if they wish (male or female!).  It’s highly recommended that all of my clients attend one of these events and it it’s also open to any Bridegroom who wants to give his Bride the wedding day of her dreams.

Here’s what one of my recent Bridegroom’s had to say about the Bridegroom’s Workshop in his comments supporting my entry in the National Wedding Industry Awards …

“Paul even did an evening for his Bridegrooms to help them gain confidence, help with their speeches and make them appreciate it’s their day too. He has such a friendly approach, coupled with his knowledge and understanding of how weddings work really helps make them better!”                                            Kevan ~ 2015 Bridegroom attended the March event
