New Place Wedding Fayre ~ Sunday 27th January

I’m delighted to say I’ll be exhibiting at the New Place Wedding Fayre ~ Sunday 27th January ~ next Sunday!

I’ve been fortunate to DJ at New Place on a number of occasions, it’s one of the best venues in the region and seems to be going from strength to strength under new ownership.

CLICK HERE for more information about weddings at New Place.

One of my favourite stories about New Place is of a couple who met and fell in love when they were both working there. The bride was working as the wedding co-ordinator and the groom as a banqueting manager. They had seen literally hundreds of DJs … and they chose me to DJ their wedding.

Come and say hello to me at The New Place Wedding Fayre ~ Sunday 27th January

April Weddings

What can I tell you about April Weddings …
The second month of Spring and, as I mentioned last time, it’s another month when the schools might be on holiday. Easter can fall any time between March 22 and April 25.

So what’s the weather likely to be like at April Weddings? Here’s a link to CLICK HERE. In summary it says …

Temperature ~ generally reach highs of around 14°C that’s about 57°F. At night the average minimum temperature drops down to around 5°C, that’s 42°F. Recently the highest recorded temperature in April has been 24°C that’s 75°F, with the lowest recorded temperature -4°C, about 25°F.

Rainfall ~ The average monthly amount of precipitation has been recorded at around 51 mm, that’s 2 inches. Throughout the month you can expect to see rain or drizzle falling on 17 days of the month, with snow falling on 1 days.

Sunshine ~ For April expect the sun to shine for an average of 9 hours per day.

Traditionally April is known for “April Showers” and in one day the weather can change from springtime sunshine to winter sleet and snow. So perhaps the question shouldn’t be “what’s the weather likely to be like at April Weddings?” but actually “what ISN’T the weather likely to be like at April Weddings?”! I guess the important this is to lease with your photographer and venue to explore all the possibilities for photos.

The first of April is April Fools Day, a date which has been popular with couples who wanted a fun-filled wedding day.

I’ve done some wonderful April weddings. The ones featured in the pictures here are from The Marwell Hotel, New Place and Bartley Lodge. (Click the hotel names to find out more about getting married at these three excellent venues).

My daughter is getting married in April next year (2018) so I’ve got my fingers crossed for a great month!

What comes after April Weddings? That’ll be May Weddings – see you next time 😉

November Weddings

Following on from last weeks post entitled “Is October the new June for Weddings, today I’m looking at November Weddings. This year I don’t have any November bookings but in previous years I’ve had up to three weddings in the month. There have been some beautiful Autumn days this November and the colours have been beautiful as always.

November Weddings

The weather for November Weddings is, as always, a very important factor. Again I went to (CLICK HERE) for some weather information

Temperature ~ In recent times the highest recorded temperature in November has been 17°C that’s 63°F, with the lowest recorded temperature -6°C, about 21°F.Generally the highs have been around 11°C

Rain ~ The average monthly amount of precipitation has been recorded at around 74 mm, that’s 3 inches. Throughout the month you can expect to see rain or drizzle falling on 19 days of the month.

Sunshine ~ For November expect the sun to shine for an average of 4 hours per day.

In conclusion, with weather like that, it’s probably fair to say that November Weddings are more likely to be focused on the indoor space. Log fires and mulled wine might be incorporated into a day of cozy celebrations.

November Weddings

The pictures in this post come from weddings at Rhinefield House, The Doubletree Hilton at Chilworth and New Place at Shirrell Heath which is now owned by Legacy Hotels. At each of these weddings the weather was kind enough to allow for some photos to be taken outside. As I said last time, the important thing is to make sure you plan for every eventuality, especially when it comes to your photography and getting the big group shots.

Fireworks, and especially sparklers, are definitely “in” for weddings at the moment and November is the month for fireworks with bonfire night.

For people who really love Autumn and the colours of the leaves turning, November is a wonderful month to get married, especially the first half before Christmas starts to take over – and talking of Christmas next weeks post will look at December weddings.

Dates For Your Diary

Here are some dates for your diary ~ it’s a busy start to 2016 for The Party DJ

On the 10th January we were at the Rhinefield House Wedding Fayre and spoke to lots of couples at various stages on their wedding planning. I had a conversation with one couple who had been told about a year ago by another DJ (on the phone) that they didn’t need to think about booking their entertainment until about six months before their big day … WRONG! They are now struggling to find anyone who is available for their wedding this July. Wedding events are a great time to talk to different suppliers and find the people you like or just get different ideas.

Sunday 31st January Wedding Fayre @ New Place
The second wedding fayre of the year for me is at the gorgeous DeVere New Place at Shirrel Heath which is out towards Wickham.

Music For The Bridal Party Entrance

One of the services I offer is music for the Wedding Ceremony. By using a professional quality P.A. system we can move emotions and create a far more dramatic moment than just by pushing the play button on a c.d. player or an iPod. We plan the timings for the various members of the Bridal Party to enter so that when the Bride finally appears in the doorway, and makes her way to the registrar’s table and her Bridegroom, the song is at it’s peek ~ this can be really powerful.

You can have any music you want at a civl ceremony as long as it doesn’t mention God. I can talk you through the process of selecting your music and I can edit your songs to make sure they have the maximum effect ~ it’s all part of the service.

Saturday was a prime example where everything was planned and the family and friends were visibly moved by Bridal Party entrance. What a beautiful, powerful song …

Why not give me a call and we can have a chat about making your wedding really unique, elegant and fun!
