New Place Wedding Fayre ~ Sunday 27th January

I’m delighted to say I’ll be exhibiting at the New Place Wedding Fayre ~ Sunday 27th January ~ next Sunday!

I’ve been fortunate to DJ at New Place on a number of occasions, it’s one of the best venues in the region and seems to be going from strength to strength under new ownership.

CLICK HERE for more information about weddings at New Place.

One of my favourite stories about New Place is of a couple who met and fell in love when they were both working there. The bride was working as the wedding co-ordinator and the groom as a banqueting manager. They had seen literally hundreds of DJs … and they chose me to DJ their wedding.

Come and say hello to me at The New Place Wedding Fayre ~ Sunday 27th January

What to look for in your wedding suppliers

With the Autumn wedding fair season in full flow, I wanted to remind you what to look for in your wedding suppliers.

Here are three basic steps as I pointed out in this video from back in 2015 Choosing Your Team (click here)

1 Make sure they are actually a business and can deliver what they promise

2 Make sure they have any insurances and/or legal certification required

3 Make sure you like them … in fact I want to go one step further. Look for people who LOVE what they do! Yes it’s a business and they need to fulfil the criteria above, but there are some of us who really love what we do and will always try and go above and beyond what is expected of us.

Get out to two or three wedding fairs, meet suppliers, ask questions and listen to the advice they give you. Find out how long they’ve been doing their thing and try to get a sense of how they feel about it. Many wedding fairs have new businesses exhibiting – can they deliver on their promises?

This coming Sunday, 16th September, I’m exhibiting a The Hampshire Wedding Group event at Winchester Guildhall. This is a free event with a free prize draw for discount vouchers with various group members. There’s even one from me worth £250. The doors are open between 11am and 3pm and I can personally recommend all of the exhibitors. We’d love to see you there. You can even preregister and get an extra entry in the draw CLICK HERE

Autumn Wedding Fair Season

Autumn Wedding Fair Season or Autumn Wedding Fayre Season? … Now there’s a question 😉

Next week sees the start of the Autumn Wedding Fair Season. This year I won’t be at as many as I would have attended in previous years but I still recommend you visit a few if you’re looking for ideas and suppliers.

My advice is to try and talk to every supplier exhibiting. Listen to what they have to tell you and you’ll get a feel for what kind of person they are and if you like them. Look for people who really love what they do and who aren’t just trying to sell you stuff. Ask questions – they should have answers. Beware … wedding fairs often attract exhibitors who are new and looking to fill their diaries – look for well established, experienced, professional suppliers.

I will be at The Winchester Guildhall on Sunday 16th September and Ampfield Golf Club on Sunday 7th October. Those are two of the Hampshire Wedding Group Autumn Wedding Fairs. They also have one on Sunday 2nd September but I have a big wedding the day before at The Italian Villa in Bournemouth and so won’t be able to attend. These are FREE to attend events with FREE to enter prize draws! For more information PLEASE CLICK HERE to go to the Hampshire Wedding Group website.

Autumn Wedding Fayre Season

Previously in the Autumn Wedding Fair Season I’ve also attended a number of the excellent events run by PMN Wedding fairs. My brochure will be in the goodie bags at some of their fairs this Autumn.

Obviously if you want any help finding great suppliers to help with your big day I am happy to help – just email

It’s Magic with Paul Newton

I’ll start this post with a confession, magicians make me nervous… after all they do “tricks”. One I do trust (I think 😉 ) is my Hampshire Wedding Group colleague and friend Paul Newton.

I’ve known Paul for a few years now and been fortunate to work alongside him a few times and I think he must be an actual wizard because I can’t see how he does what he does. I’ve even been next to him at wedding fairs for hours and watched him do the same trick multiple times and I still can’t work it out!

So when Tarik and Amina asked a while ago for my suggestions for an entertainer at their wedding which was held last weekend I had no hesitation in recommending Paul Newton ~ Magician, Mind Reader, Hypnotist (and all round lovely bloke).

Paul arrived while Tarik and Amina’s guests were enjoying their wedding breakfast and was soon going from table to table amazing their friends and family with his close up magic. After the speeches Paul took a few moments with the newly weds to show everybody that … you know what, I’m not going to tell you. What I will say is that it was magic, it was romantic and Tarik and Amina absolutely loved it and so did their guests!

For more information about Paul Newton PLEASE CLICK HERE

You can meet Paul at this Sunday’s wedding fayre at Winchester Guildhall AND you could win a discount on Paul’s services – it’s one of the prizes in the FREE prize draw. For more information and to preregister and get an extra entry PLEASE CLICK HERE.

Wedding planning ~ here are some dates for your diary.

If you are Wedding planning, here are some dates for your diary.

I’ll be at a couple of weddings fairs over the next two months and I’ve also got a “Creating Your WOW Wedding” evening booked. All three of these events will really help whether you’ve just started your wedding planning or think you’ve got it all done ( especially this first one 😉 )

Thursday 6th July ~ “Creating Your WOW Wedding” at Gray Manor
I’m delighted to have been invited by Eli and Jason from Gray Manor to present my WOW evening. I was the DJ they chose to provide the entertainment for their wedding back on New Years Eve 2015 when they first took over the hotel.

Here’s what Eli had to say about my wedding planning services when she voted in support of my Wedding Industry Awards entry …

“He made the day so much more special with his unique touches and is so much more then just a DJ. We would not have had the day we did without him. I actually found the wedding planning process quite stressful due to selling a house and opening a new business at the same time, so was not enjoying it but every time I saw Paul, I would come away so excited for the day and he really made the difference both in the lead up and on the day to making the wedding so fun and enjoyable.”

During the evening I will look at the principles set out in Your WOW Wedding, by booklet on how to create a wedding that is all about you – if you haven’t seen it a preview is available in my website bookcase CLICK HERE and you can get access to the whole book my emailing me.

Gray Manor is a stunning venue offering fantastic service, you should really check it out and this evening will be a great opportunity to do just that.

This event is FREE, to reserve your place and/or for more information email

Wedding Breakfast at Gray Manor

Wedding Disco at Gray Manor

Then we have the two wedding fair / wedding planning events, both at venues that I haven’t been to before …

Sunday 16th July ~ Wedding Fair at Three Choirs Vineyard ~ 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. £2.00 per person entry fee (children free)

Sunday 30th July ~ The Summer Wedding Festival at Gordelton Mill SO41 6DJ ~ 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Free entry

If you have just started your wedding planning it’s really tough to know where to start, here’s a couple of videos I did a while back that I hope will help – there are plenty more on my YouTube channel.

So if you are wedding planning try and make it to these three excellent events and watch out for some more dates for your diary coming soon.

Rhinefield House Wedding Fayre This Sunday

It’s Rhinefield House Wedding Fayre this Sunday and Ce and I will be there. It is one of the most popular venues in the area and I’ve done lots of weddings there with more booked for this year. CLICK HERE for more about Rhinefield House Weddings.

The Rhinefield House Wedding Fayre is always a great event with lots of couples looking for great suppliers and many of my friends will be exhibiting including Carole from The Flower Stables and Kim and Krysia from Kim Collins Photography.

As always, I recommend that whenever you visit an event like this you should try and speak to EVERY exhibitor – they are experts and will usually be happy to help with advice even if they can’t do your date.

I haven’t managed to attend as many wedding fairs as usual this year so I’m really looking forward to Sunday, PLUS I now have a new WOW Wedding events scheduled to tell people about.

This Sunday’s Rhinefield House Wedding Fayre starts at 10:30am and ends around 3pm, there is a £2 entry fee which includes a bridal bag and show guide. It’s organised by the excellent Stylish Events. The Fayre is actually held in The Hurst Castle Suite which is away from the part of the hotel where weddings normally held but there will be plenty of signage to direct you. I look forward to seeing you there.

Lainston House Wedding DJ

If you are looking for a Lainston House Wedding DJ this event on Sunday is well worth attending 😉 …
because I’ll be there!

Lainston House is, without a doubt, one of the top hotels in Hampshire. Located near Sparsholt and set in over 60 acres of beautiful Hampshire countryside, this is one of just a few 5 star hotels in the area. This really is a venue for couples who want the best.

Sundays wedding fair with PMN gives couples a great opportunity to take a good look around and also meet some great suppliers including yours truly. I was there for the spring wedding fair as were many of my favourite supplier friends and I was very impressed with what I saw. Always remember when attending wedding fairs that the various exhibitors are there to share their knowledge, so spending time talking to all of them is worthwhile – you never know what you may find out.

You may not have a 5 star venue budget but this is a great opportunity to see what it would be like and it may not be as expensive as you think!

I haven’t been a wedding DJ at Lainston House since my return in 2010 but I have DJ’d there in the past. I’d really like to play there again soon so hopefully Sunday will help me find a couple who want a WOW Lainston House Wedding DJ.

Wedding Fair Weekend In Hampshire!

I think this weekend is Wedding Fair Weekend! As I’ve already posted we are planning to be at two events on Sunday and now there’s a third one we would have loved to attend.

For Wedding Fair Weekend Ce, my wonderful wife, will be at Ampfield Golf Club while I’ll be at Rhinefield House and now we find out that The Port House at Port Solent is also holding a showcase and we were invited to attend that one too as a recommend supplier. Oh, to be in three places at once!

These three very different venues all offer unique options when it comes to weddings and I’d recommend them all.

The Port House can cater for up to 300 people - this was their Christmas Party marquee last year

The Port House can cater for up to 300 people – this was their Christmas Party marquee built on to the clubhouse last year

The Port House
The Port House is a modern cafe, bar and restaurant located at the water’s edge with views over the marina. It’s part of Vanilla Catering and the food is amazing! With its beautifully refurbished interior, bright modern bar, and extensive outside patio, it provides a flexible wedding venue whatever the season or weather. They are licensed to hold cicil ceremonies and can accommodate guest numbers up to 160 for formal dining and with the addition of a marquee attached to the building up to 300 people!

Once again this year I’m booked to provide the entertainment at The Port House Christmas Party nights, so if you haven’t got your celebration booked yet they are well worth a look – as I say, they can cater for up to 300 people and there are also “mixed night” spaces still available if you just want to book for a small group (CLICK HERE). Enquiries should be addressed to or phone 01489 589 275 – tell her I sent you.

The Port House wedding showcase on Sunday is between 11am and 3pm the address is The Port House, Marina Keep, Portsmouth PO6 4TH

Wedding Fair Weekend

Ampfield Golf Club
As a founding member of The Hampshire Wedding Group I’ve has quite a lot to do with planning our Autumn event at Ampfield and as usual it will be well worth a visit. Not only will you get a chance to talk to our experts and find out about the brilliant range of services they offer, you’ll also get a chance to win some amazing prizes – for more details click here.

It’s always a joy to work with Kris and the team at Ampfield and they have amazing plans for the future, so make sure you visit this event.

Rhinefield House
Rhinefield House is one of the top hotels in Hampshire. It’s part of the Handpicked Hotels chain and offers a real fairy tale wedding setting.

I seem to get a wedding a year at Rhinefield – this year it was Sherry and Mandy’s back in March, and I look forward to meeting plenty of new couples there on Sunday.

The Stylish Events Rhinefield Autumn Fair is on Sunday is between 10:30am and 3pm the address is Rhinefield Road, Brockenhurst, Hampshire, S042 7QB

New Forest Wedding DJ

New Forest Wedding DJ

As a New Forest Wedding DJ I get to play at some amazing venues. Last Thursday I was at Rhinefield House

I provided music for the wedding ceremony in the Grand Hall with my system tucked away at the rear of the room – you can see it behind the seats on the left of this picture.

Rhinefield Wedding Music

Next it was music in the Lounge Bar for the drinks reception and then background music back in the Grand Hall for the wedding breakfast.

Finally I DJ’d their brilliant party in the Kings Hall.

Rhinefield House DJ

I hope to post a full blog about this wedding once the happy couple have returned from their honeymoon.

Rhinefield is one of the many fantastic New Forest wedding venues I’ve had the privilege to perform at. If you’d like my feedback about any of them please let me know.

Sunday 10th April Hampshire Wedding Festival is being held in The New Forest at The New Forest Showground, New Park, Brockenhurst, Hampshire SO42 7QH.

This should be a great event. The organisers have already created, run and established The Dorset Wedding Festival, so I’m expecting great things. If you have children you may be interested to know that Freedom Childcare Services are running a free creche. The ticket prices are very reasonable and parking is free.

Tickets for the event can be ordered here.

So if you are looking for a New Forest Wedding DJ, look no further.
